I’m surprised.
After the ruling by the United States Courts two days ago officially saying that vaccines have no relation to autism (view our blog below) I immediately booted up my Twitter client to see the communities reaction… There was none. Either the autism community needs a biggest presense on Twitter or parents of autistic children have been back and forth so much that the ruling just rolls off as “whatever”?
I decided to look into the lack of reaction and publicly ask some of our Twitter followers their personal thoughts on the matter. Here is what some of the @autblog followers had to say:
“@AutismMomExpert: For many parents the connection is there no matter what the professionals say.”
“@EquiisSavant: Long & short of it is: there r lots of brain damaged ppl. w/Autism r govt doesnt want to admit exist or pay for. Like Agent Orange.”
The @autblog Twitter feed hasn’t shown anyone who has come out and agreed with the ruling, although I’m sure they are out there. Since this decision came down I’ve been thinking “what happens next?” if the legal system has dismissed vaccinations as the cause of autism (true or not), will the next course of action be to fund a massive research into the diets of children–and if they do, will you, as a parent of an autistic child dismiss the judgement or embrace it?

As a mother of 5 UNvaccinated children – TWO of those on the Spectrum (Aspergers), my opinion is that vaccines alone do not cause Autism. My personal theory is that these children with regressive Autism (and all the gut issues) were born as what Temple Grandin calls “geeks”. They are developing normally (as I *thought* my children were until they were dx in grade school) but would grow up to be the geeks if left unvaccinated. Introducing the vaccines caused the damage to their sensitive bodies. I believe THAT is what is causing the regressive Autism.
The problem is…. at the young ages vaccines are given, you do not know if your child has undx Aspergers. My mother’s intuition screamed at me to not vaccinate my children. So I chose not to. I am SOOOo thankful I listened to my heart.
I hear all this Vaccine talk and all I hear is blah blah blah because I for one don’t believe anything the Government and Scientists working for them have to say.
