~~Service Dogs for Autism~~
Posted on 27 Jun, 2010

I have been doing a lot of research on Service Dogs for Autism and it seems like my youngest (Bradley) would really benefit from one due to his SID, being a "flight" risk, we live on 4 acres but surrounded by 72 acres, etc...
The only problem I find with this is that my oldest is terrifed by animals, all animals big and small but our therapist says it's a wonderful idea and we should go for it.
Has anyone else checked into this?? Anyone have a Service Dog for Autism?? If you do have one please tell me about your experience and where you got yours. I've only found 3 places so far but I'm still checking them out.
Thank you :O)

We do not have any service dogs, but at an autism conference we went to in California had a company that provided service dogs. I have heard that a lot of families do this and the kids usually get super close to the animals. In a way they become there friends. If you go forward with this definitely keep us posted...very interesting concept.

What a good idea because they do it for the deaf, blind, and physically disabled.
