The Drive of Autism

We say people whom have autism are disabled, but are they really? Autism is defined as a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills. When we speak of autism words like crazy, slow, etc. usually comes to mind but without these “crazy” people we would not be able to live the way we do. Did you know Issac Newton is suspected to be autistic? Or did you know Leonardo Da Vinci was also suspected to be autistic also? Autistic people usually excel in a certain area of life whether it is sports, art, or science. Autistic people are able to focus on something that interest them and work extremely hard to achieve it. I have a cousin that is Autistic and he is very interested in sports. Unfortunately he was born with bad legs and is does not have the physical ability to play on a high level. But instead he uses his impeccable memory to remember statistics of players, games, and teams. He is so good if u give him a year and player there is an 80% chance he can give you their average points, touchdowns, or homeruns that season. He has just graduated high school last weekend and he is going to enter college to study statistics in hopes of one day being a sports analyst. Autistic people have a drive that we all need and if we had that drive the world would be a better place.

The reason why they classify autism as a disability because they display some signs of mental retardation and mental illness, which are two different disorders.
