The programs were established to offer children a place to learn important skills and strategies for coping in their daily life, while discovering a variety of ways to have fun.
Our programs incorporate a transitional activity that allows the children to relax and release anxiety they may have pent up from the day and then introduce three major social skills necessary to succeed in school and at home – meetings and greetings, taking turns, and following directions along with a variety of discrete social rules that can be overlooked in developmental terms, like parallel play. The afternoon will then close with time for the students to share what they learned with their family and practice the strategies with their classmates.
Classes include yoga or another sensational transitional activity followed by fun structured activities that will be great socialization experiences for children with special needs and typical developing children. Skills addressed will include: appropriate greetings, following directions, turn taking, and appropriate play interactions.
Our programs are two days a week so there would be extra time to practice and follow up after short intervals at home, more exposure means less skill regression. |
